6 months!

Yesterday she had her 6 month check up at the pediatrician. Unfortunately, it did not go as well as her other check ups. It turns out that since we were there in January she has actually lost weight instead of gaining weight. So we are trying to figure out how we can get her to were she needs to be with me still nursing her. The doctor told me that we need to give her formula from now on but I would like to try to figure out a way that I can still be her primary source of food. I was pretty upset and felt inadequate but I have calmed down now and am waiting to hear from the lactation consultant for some help. I know there is nothing wrong with formula but I have worked really hard with Genevieve and she has never been a good eater so it hasn't been easy. I always said that as long as she was gaining weight it was okay that she screamed while she ate. Now I know she was doing that because she was still hungry. We shall see how this goes.

But she is now 25 3/4" tall, her head is 16 3/4" around. She now rolls over and continues to amaze us with that little trick. She has started with some separation anxiety which is interesting. She will be totally fine with someone else holding her but then when she notices me she cries. Ugh. She defiantly know who her Daddy is and who I am.

We started music and movement on Monday and she seemed to like it but she isn't able to crawl around like the other kids so she more watches, which is fine. She doesn't see many other babies usually so it is good for her to watch them.

Next Thursday Genevieve will go on her first flight. That should be really interesting. Usually she can tell when we need her to behave and acts the opposite (I am not sure which parent she gets that from) and she doesn't like to sit in a chair being held for to long. I am taking her alone (No Daddy) up to Georgia to see her Aunts, Uncle D, and Fuller. While it will be nice to see them the main event will be meeting Baby Mac. He is my cousin Doug's new son, who was born last Monday to Doug and his wife Samantha. There will be lots of people coming to meet Baby Mac so it should be a good time. Thankfully the flight is only an hour and a half so it should be all that bad. I also picked a seat in the back of the plane on the aisle so we can move around easily and walk around. Last time I checked the seat next to me is empty, let's pray it stays that way.

Now Genevieve is enjoying getting to know her cousin Marin who is visiting and how to dodge her grabbing fingers (don't worry she doesn't actually hurt G). She is continually amazed with the neat tricks that Marin can do (she is SO close to crawling and likes to make noise by strumming her fingers across her lips and loves to "talk"). Yesterday the girls went on their first (of what I am sure will be many) shopping trips. We took them to the mall to give Brynne a chance to walk around the mall again. The girls each got a new bathing suit and matching dresses from our friend Ms. Karen (Thanks Ms. Karen!). Today maybe they will try out those bathing suits. I am sure there will be plenty of pictures.

She is adorable!

Sorry about the weight thing with Genevieve, I know (from personal experience) that's really scary. I'm sure though, especially since she's on solid foods, you can find some kind of middle ground where you can still bf her, and have her gain weight. I hope the LC helps!!

I hope you've talked to the LC and been encouaraged to continue without formula. You drink plenty of water and let her nurse as often and as long as she wants. Especially since she's getting solids too, she'll do fine. There is typically a six month growth spurt and it will feel like she never stops eating/nursing. She's probably getting ready for that. Hang in there.

See you next Sunday in Athens! I'm driving to Auburn Friday and will drive Grandma over on Sunday.
